RUSAL denies US allegation of Deripaska’s control of company

MOSCOW, Oct 24 (PRIME) -- Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL is not under control of any sanctioned entity or individual, including businessman Oleg Deripaska, furthermore, the company is not known to have purchased oil from Venezuela, the company said in a statement late on October 21 commenting on the U.S. Justice Department's report.

“To RUSAL's knowledge, it was not involved in any purchases of oil from Venezuela alleged in the indictment. RUSAL is committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including sanctions and export control laws,” the company said.

On October 19, the U.S. Justice Department said that the U.S. had charged five Russian citizens and two Venezuelan oil traders with sanctions evasion and money laundering. The company said that RUSAL had not been charged and the company name was not mentioned in the indictment.
